Hi! I'm Hailey Winter. I am currently 16 years old and going into my junior year of high-school. I am a member of Junior Fair Board, American Junior Simmental Associaton, Yreka FFA, YHS Girls Basketball, and YHS Vollyball. This is my fourth year as a livestock showman; I have learned so much! From getting to know my animal to the science behind their feeds. Shauna Hinton- my 4-H beef leader has taken me under her wing and taught me everything I know. My parents have also given me helpful pointers along the way. Their support goes unmatched, whether it's watching ringside or helping me practice in our front yard, they are always behind me and supporting my decisions. Not only this, but they have been the chauffeur's to and from shows, meetings, and the feed store.
My goals for the next few years are so widespread. I have become a model for the next group of kids that want to venture into livestock and I want to continue as this role model. In addition, want to be the best student leader that I can be. I have goals beyond what my time showing will give me including: college and starting a family of my own down the road to share my love of agriculture with. I want to be an advocate for the hard work that goes beyond the glam and magic on show day. In my family it is most important to be the best that you can no matter the circumstances. I've experienced struggles and loss of animals in my life. Though disappointing in the moment, I am thankful for the lessons I have learned a long the way.
This year was my busiest to come. I balanced sports, 4.0+ gpa, and my various youth development programs. All this hard work has come with some amazing rewards. I have met amazing people and learned more than you can imagine throughout this year alone. My career goals have changed time and time again but I remain passionate about continuing the agricultural mission and helping provide premium quality meat that will give people proper nutrition to the consumers. So passionate that I want to become a producer myself on an even larger scale.
To conclude, I want to thank all of the people in my life that can make my dream possible: teachers, leaders, friends, family, buyers, and the generation before me. With social media it is easy to get persuaded to believe a certain idea or lose trust in yourself as a person, all of these people have kept me on the path I'm on and never limited my wild imagination. So... THANK YOU!
Between Basketball and Vollyball all the months between May and Febuary are jam packed with practice and games, always keeping me busy and in good shape!
As President of Yreka FFA, its safe to assume that this organization holds a special place in my heart. I cant wait to lead our chapter into bigger and better things.
Everyone in my family has played a part in my life but I will always be specially grateful for my mom and the unwavering support she has shown me every day of my life.
